Public Service of New Hampshire (PSNH) required assistance with coordinating FERC licensing and compliance tasks and engineering support for its eight hydroelectric projects in New Hampshire.
Kleinschmidt has been providing comprehensive services to PSNH to meet its needs including working directly with PSNH station operators, hydro managers, engineers and other staff to organize, coordinate, and complete FERC tasks on a PSNH-maintained compliance tracking list. In addition to agency consultation and preparation of compliance plans, Kleinschmidt has been involved in a variety of other issues including engineering design of dam fall protection, recreation facility design, canal abandonment plans, pond level control and compliance, eel ladder review and fish passage and protection design, public safety concerns, training and documentation for operations staff, shoreline management planning, development of station checklists for dam safety surveillance and monitoring reports (DSSMR), and preparation and submittal of yearly DSSMRs for all eight FERC licensed dams. Kleinschmidt also assisted with preparation of the relicensing application for the Canaan Project, conducted associated environmental studies, and assisted in negotiations for the water quality certification. Kleinschmidt is currently providing relicensing services for the Eastman Falls Project including process strategy assistance including issue scoping and study plan development.
Kleinschmidt utilized its experience with engineering and regulatory issues to help develop cost effective compliance strategies, efficiently, complete tasks, and allow PSNH staff to remain focused on their mission critical tasks.
