James Doty, P.E.

Project Engineer

“I am passionate about performing the engineering work that I do and contributing to the solutions Kleinschmidt provides to address problems affecting energy, water, and the environment. I enjoy learning about the history of each hydro site and waterway I work on, and I am grateful for every opportunity to travel to these locations through my work.”

James is a mechanical engineer experienced in mechanical and fluid system design, computer-aided design, finite element analysis, and computational fluid dynamics. He has experience designing and developing spraying, dewatering, and filtration system products. He performs mechanical design tasks related to fish passage projects, hydroelectric turbines, gates, debris handling systems, and mechanical balance of plant systems.

James is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He is a lifetime member of Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honor Society (Massachusetts Alpha chapter), and Pi Tau Sigma, the Mechanical Engineering Honor Society (WPI Tau Tau chapter).

James holds a M.S. and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts.
