Karen Bishop is a Regulatory Consultant at Kleinschmidt and has been with the company for 6 years. She started at Kleinschmidt as a fisheries biologist and now focuses on the regulatory side of renewable energy projects, bringing expertise in FERC relicensing and amendments, NEPA projects, and Low Impact Hydropower Institute applications. As a fisheries biologist, Karen has contributed to various scientific studies, including fish assemblage assessments, water quality evaluations, fish passage analyses, and entrainment and impingement studies. Her understanding of aquatic ecosystems strengthens her ability to navigate complex regulatory projects involving water resources while ensuring environmental compliance and project success.
Prior to working at Kleinschmidt, Karen worked with the Vermont Fish and Wildlife and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection as a seasonal fisheries biologist. She also managed and maintained a zebrafish aquaculture facility for the Giraldez Lab at Yale University, her work included husbandry and genotyping.
Karen holds a B.S. in Fisheries Biology from the University of Vermont.
