Kenneth R. Odom, Ph.D., P.E.
Senior Engineering Advisor
“I delight in the process of seeing an idea move from a thought, or a sketch on a piece of paper, to completion where the needs that gave birth to the idea are all satisfied.”
Kenneth is a registered professional engineer with over 34 years of engineering experience in hydropower and water resources. He most recently served as the SME for dissolved oxygen enhancement projects at Southern Company hydropower projects, where he modeled and studied dissolved oxygen data, made day-to-day operational decisions, recommended enhancement system changes, and was a member of the FERC relicensing team. His most recent big project experience was managing the engineering and construction of a $50M dissolved enhancement project for three hydropower facilities on the upper Coosa River for Alabama Power Company. His analysis of historical data was crucial to specifying the requirements of the aeration equipment. He has extensive knowledge of hydropower operations and how those operations are affected by proposed system changes. Kenneth has been involved in inspection, fieldwork, testing, and specifying control schemes for minimum flow and aeration equipment.
He is a past President of the Hydropower Foundation and the Alabama Section of the American Water Resources Association. Kenneth currently serves on the industry board in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Alabama. He has a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama and a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee.
