Robert Schomp, P.E.

Engineer

“I am passionate about multi-disciplinary projects that create an equitable and sustainable built world. Working with Kleinschmidt Associates is enriching because the diversity of engineering challenges fully utilizes my skillsets while also maximizing my potential. I look forward to growing my career alongside a supportive network of industry experts and mentors.”

Robert is a Staff Engineer working on hydraulic and hydrology modeling, environmental engineering, and geotechnical support. He recently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a M.S. in Civil Engineering with a focus in water resources and environmental engineering. He has 3 years of engineering consultant experience and 3 years of research experience. He has worked collaboratively on the Portland Harbor Superfund Site conducting environmental remediation as well as producing stochastic inundation models using HEC-RAS. For his master’s thesis, Robert modeled Hurricane Harvey inundation extent and depth across seven Texas counties using National Water Model outputs and high-resolution topographic data. He is an expert with GeoNet, a channel network delineation tool using geodesic minimization principles, and GeoFlood, a simplified conceptual flood inundation model. He is an active volunteer and member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). While holding an Oregon Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) license, Robert looks forward to pursuing Professional Engineer licensure.
