Ryan Thomas
Scientist
“Kleinschmidt offers great opportunities to use science and forward thinking to improve upon renewable energy solutions.”
Ryan is a Scientist working out of Kleinschmidt’s Portland, Oregon office. He is responsible for GIS data management and analysis, drone data collection, and remote sensing support across many projects in the Pacific Northwest and California. These projects include GIS data management and analysis and remote sensing efforts in support of FERC relicensing proceedings and current license compliance for hydroelectric facilities; dam breach and flood modeling; and a variety of environmental field data collection and analysis efforts.
Ryan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geology and a Master’s degree in Remote Sensing from the University of Utah. For his graduate project, he used remote sensing and machine learning techniques working with a multitude of data sources to determine locations of potential groundwater sources in the Escalante River Watershed of Southern Utah. He continues to volunteer with the Escalante River Watershed Partnership as a data scientist and has developed an application survey to assist in the field verification of these predicted sites.
